Fridge Web Solutions would like to wish all its readers, clients, suppliers and potential clients a happy and prosperous 2010.

It seems quite a few people are upbeat about business for the year.  For example http://www.engineeringnews.co.za/article/african-business-leaders-upbeat-on-2010-expect-fdi-to-rise-2009-12-15

I hope they right, 2009 was a tough one.

FWS Launches New Website

posted Dec 27, 2009 12:28 AM by Warren Byron   [ updated Jan 4, 2010 1:52 AM ]

Its been a long time due but Fridge Web Solutions has finally launched their new website using the Google Sites platform.  They always say, "the shoemaker's children have holes in their shoes".  Well, I finally got around to it (being end of year and all) and launched our new website.  Please provide your comments on our comments section.

I used the project to test the Google Sites platform for creating a useful website.  I found the system very easy to use.  As a web developer I was a little frustrated by the fact I couldn't completely customise things - but that wasn't too serious.  Generally, I found the platform very intuitive easy to use and I continue to recommend Google Apps to my clients and particularly for guys just starting up where they wish to manage their own websites or are constrained in budget.

Google Sites can also be used for companies that are just beginning the formulation of their websites.  Later on down the line they can get fancy with developers, flash, CSS, javascript and what-not.  But to just focus your mind and structure your content correctly is probably the most important step in the website creation process.

It certainly worked for FWS.  It has allowed me to formulate and structure what we as a company are aspiring to do quite nicely.

I know in the future I can migrate over to Word Press or another CMS system.    We'll probably have to wait till next Christmas for the migration ;-) But for the moment I think we have a pretty good looking and functional website.  It also demonstrates that we "practice what we preach".
